Radio Orealla

I mean you will get some free radios but the other radios are not so free, but everyone can use and reuse this facility of public broadcasting and I would urge that some of the culture that we saw on display this morning could be broadcast through this medium. Those of us who are old enough would remember that they used to have songs like “My little blue transistor radio” people used to court with radio long ago before they had Facebook and televisions- two lovers sitting down listening to the radio- beautiful. So this is not a vehicle for propaganda.  This is a vehicle for enabling you to become, fully, citizens of Guyana in the sense that it will empower you because when you have information you will be able to make informed choices.” Excerpt from the address by His Excellency President David Granger on 25th March, 2018 at the Commissioning of Radio Orealla, East-Berbice-Corentyne (Region Six)

Radio Orealla is the sixth and newest radio station to be commissioned in the regional radio network. The team comprises 8 persons and a technical monitor. Radio Orealla is located near the village Beanb in the Orealla village with its transmitter on the GTT tower on the hill. Radio Orealla receives electricity from solar panels and the village generator.
